Stuart Redbond is a partner at accountancy firm RLA Group. Here he shares five of his favourite things about living and working in Essex
Stuart Redbond joined the RLA Group in January 2010 and became partner later that year. He gives financial advice, advanced tax planning and helps clients’ businesses to the next level. Prior to RLA, Stuart had worked at numerous top firms before going travelling for a year or so. Travelling still remains a passion of his and every year he tries to visit new places and countries. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his new baby, Neveah, his family, his girlfriend and his friends, as well as playing sports and following his favourite football team, Arsenal.
My favourite theatre
Cliffs Pavilion in Westcliff
It has to be the Cliffs Pavilion in Westcliff. They have some great acts and events there and it seems no matter where you sit you always have a good view. It also brings back great memories for us as this is where they hold the Essex Business Awards and we have won several awards there over the past four years, which have been wonnderful events for us and our staff.
My favourite walk
The Wick Country Park in Wickford
The Wick Country Park in Wickford is near to where I live. The park is stunning and I love walking around there with my girlfriend, Rachel. We have just had our baby girl, so we are now going for walks with her too, which is very wonderful. It’s great to see kids out playing, fishing and running around in the fresh air, rather than stuck at home playing on computers or watching TV.
My favourite Day Out
I do have great memories of Marsh Farm as I grew up in South Woodham Ferrers and we went there a lot. Again, it’s a great place to go to be near nature and see the animals too. My best friend, Jamie Cooke, and his wife, Amanda, take their young daughter Esmee there from time to time.
My favourite person
Robert Head has to be my favourite person in Essex (of course, along with my amazing girlfriend). Rob and I hit it off straight away when we met in 2010. We became very good friends as well as business partners and we have never looked back. Rob had already won lots of awards before we started working together. He is a very successful and inspirational person, but we have now together achieved much more than we would have as individuals and have had a great time doing so as well.
My favourite Shop
Lord Loafers in Basildon
Joe Harris set his shop/brand up from scratch when he was just 16. He is based in Basildon and now already ships worldwide. Joe set up his first Ebay business when he was still at secondary school and saw potential for a high quality range of loafers. It’s just two years on and Lord Loafers Limited has taken off amazingly. It has more than 50,000 Instagram followers as well as celebrity fans and clientele all over the world. The shoes are stunning and very comfortable, and it is also great to support a local entrepreneur.
