Holly Eells talks to legendary singer Lisa Stansfield about her return to the music industry, an upcoming European tour, a new album and performing at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend this month

It’s good to have you back, Lisa! What can we expect from you this time around?

An unbelievable band combined with songs old and new. I’m really, really looking forward to the shows.

How would you encourage Essex Life readers to attend your show at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend?

Well, hopefully they won’t need any encouragement, but I believe it is going to be fantastic, so don’t miss out.

Do you have a favourite place in Essex?

I recently attended the Southend Film Festival, which was incredible. I had a really good time, so I’m looking forward to returning to Southend soon.

You also have a new album out, entitled Seven. Tell us more?

Seven is my first album in ten years and it is all about me doing what I do best. It is a classic soul album and it has come straight from the heart.

You will be spending a lot of time travelling this month, what do you like and dislike when you’re on tour?

Well I will certainly miss my dogs, and my bed! We have such a great time on tour though, we’re all so close and have a laugh all the time. Also, I love singing live and seeing the fans enjoying themselves too.

Any other exclusives you can share with our readers?

Sorry, nothing that I’m allowed to say yet!

Lisa Stansfield will be appearing at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend on September 16. For more details, visit
