Charlotte Nial is the owner and director of Cranwell House Skin Clinic & Medispa in Ingatestone. Here she shares with Essex Life five of her favourite things about the county

Charlotte Nial

Charlotte owns and directs Cranwell House Skin Clinic & Medispa in Ingatestone. Charlotte’s background is in beauty therapy and after working for various salons, Charlotte decided to follow her interest and passion in skin health and taught for a skincare company while also running her own home-based clinic. Her goal now is to educate people and to help people with skin and body solutions, and to expand her clinic profile. Cranwell House specialises in skincare alongside laser and cosmetic procedures as well as offering many beauty and wellness therapies in a spa environment.

My Favourite Essex Tea Room

Abigails in Ingatestone

On my way in to work most mornings, I love to stop at Abigails and pick up some lunch and whatever else takes my fancy. It is a beautiful deli in the village of Ingatestone with lots of fresh, locally sourced food, tea and freshly-baked cakes. There is also a range of gluten free food, which is great as most of my family are gluten intolerant. There is also a lovely tea room at the back of the shop, where you can relax and enjoy afternoon tea, which I have done on many occasions.

My Favourite Essex Restaurant

Zenxi in Chelmsford

Located just five minutes from my home, my husband and I regularly like to pop into Zenxi for dinner. Now that we have a two-year-old son, and we are juggling running our own businesses, it is nice to go out and spend some quality time together. It is an Oriental seafood and Chinese restaurant with great service and great food! It also has a lovely cocktail bar and lounge area, where you can sit and unwind. We also like to meet friends here or go for celebrations.

My Favourite Essex Spa

Lifehouse in Thorpe le Soken

About once a year I try to have a spa break and I have been to Lifehouse a few times. It is nice to be on the receiving end and be pampered for a day or two. It is conveniently located, only 30 minutes away from home, and offers lots of different treatments with great facilities and the food is lovely and healthy. It has great views around it and acres of gardens, so it takes you away from the real world for a day or two.

My Favourite Day Out

Colchester Zoo

I like to have regular family days out and this is a favourite place to take my two-year-old son. He loves it there and loves going to see all the animals. It’s a very child friendly and well maintained location for a day out and the animals seem to be very well cared for. In the summer there are some nice picnic areas to take a picnic.

My Favourite Essex Gym/Country Club

Stock Brook Manor in Billericay

Part of my weekly routine is the yoga class I attend at Stock Brook Manor. It is my time to really unwind and relax, take an hour for myself, and practice deep breathing, stretching and relaxation. I really enjoy going to Stock Brook and they have a great crèche for children. I like to attend regular classes, when I can fit it in. With a very hectic lifestyle, I find exercise really helps to relieve stress and makes you feel energised and so much better.
