Children and helpers enjoy the celebrations

THE 22nd annual Children's Sporting Lunch, organised by The Presidents Sporting Club took place at the end of 2008. More than 600 disabled children and their helpers from special schools throughout Essex and East Herts attended the event.

The children enjoy a traditional lunch and the opportunity to meet a host of celebrities, followed by a cabaret and disco while also being entertained by clowns, a band and even a visit from a collection of animals from Paradise Wildlife Park.

The Presidents Sporting Club and Essex Disabled Sports Foundation, has now raised more than £1.5 million which has been donated to schools and organizations, such as Riding for Disabled to provide sporting facilities and opportunities for disabled children. The money raised is used to provide sports equipment, coaching and tuition, the hire of sports halls and the funding of outings and adventure type holidays. Taking part in sport increases the children's self confidence, physical development
and self esteem.
