The Children's Safety Education Foundation received a cash boost of £1,000 thanks to the High Sheriff of Essex, Sarah Courage. These much-needed funds will go to support the Crucial Crew safety education project for primary school children in Epping Forest District.
In total £22,000 was donated to 50 community groups at the annual High Sheriff's Awards ceremony held at The Fennes Estate in Bocking. More than 260 invited guests included the chairman of Essex County Council Cllr Bonnie Hart, Essex Police Chief Constable Roger Baker and Chief Fire Officer David Johnson.
Sarah Courage said: 'I have met so many outstanding, dedicated, hard-working volunteers while in office. They offer a candle of hope for vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals.'
