Everest climb aims to take Little Havens to new heights
Orsett Hall played host to the official launch of Damian Walters attempt to summit Mount Everest in aid of the Little Havens Childrens Hospice. Leaving London on April 14, Damian is the only Briton playing a part in the Australian-led expedition in the spring of this year, joining climbers from the US, Canada and Australia.
Damians target is to raise 50,000 and more than 200 guests attended the official launch with the Essex-2-Everest team raising more than 9,000 on the night. Damian, a self-confessed mountaineer novice, weighed more than 21 stone in 2008 but decided to change his lifestyle after attending a charity ball for Little Havens back in 2008.
