A special reception in Colchester was held as part of a campaign to encourage more nominations for honours to be made for Essex people

Colchester reception highlights those honoured by the Queen


During the past 25 years, Barry Donovan from Colchester estimates that hes helped raise more than 1 million for good causes. Barry, 68, has been a leading figure in 14 fund-raising organisations and his commitment was recognised when he was awarded the MBE in the Queens Birthday Honours. He was also among guests at a special reception in Colchester as part of a campaign to encourage more nominations for honours to be made for Essex people who make a significant contribution to the community. Other guests included the Mayor and Mayoress of Colchester, Cllr Henry and Mrs Vivien Spyvee, and Lord Newton of Braintree OBE, chairman of the Community, Voluntary and Local Services Honours committee.
