Until May 15, Parndon Mill in Harlow is hosting Opposites Attract, an exhibition of paintings by Isabelle Beaubien. The exhibition will push the concept of perception and colour contrast to the extreme. Some of Isabelle’s works have very strong and powerful colours while others are more neutral. But both defy the concept of dominance and recession and in both cases, she creates striking paintings where background and foreground can shift and intrigue the eye. The final result always looks very pure, well defined and very precise.

Each painting is finished by adding a thick layer of clear resin. This allows the canvas to become more sculptural, creating even more texture and contrast. The resin generates a depth of colour beyond expectation.

Born in 1980, Isabelle is a native of Montreal in Canada, where she studied Fine Arts at Concordia University. Upon graduation, she went on to gain her Master’s degree in Contemporary Art from The Villa Arson in Nice, France. She is an emerging artist who lives in London and commutes to her studio in Harlow. She exhibits in many galleries throughout the UK and North America.
