To create the bedroom space that suits your needs you need the perfect blend of comfort and functionality. Sarah Hammill goes in search of fabulous looks for a dreamy sanctuary
A bedside table is a necessity in every bedroom, providing an ideal surface for everyday items as well as being a useful storage solution. That doesn’t mean the design has to be dull, invest in an innovative design to complement bedroom décor. But before purchasing, always measure the space available to avoid disappointment.
Helen Bygraves, co-founder of Hill House Interiors, comments: ‘The Knightsbridge bedside table is one of our key pieces in the Hill House Furniture Range: it’s both elegant and practical, and one of our bestsellers. The Knightsbridge bedside lives up to its name with its sleek lines, discreet shadow gap detailing and tapered legs. The structure comes in an elegant high gloss lacquer finish with many colours and veneers to choose from in an array of neutral and textured finishes. The drawer fronts can be finished in either a mirror finish, faux leather or real leather as a standard finish in the sizes available. With two soft closing drawers lined in either an ebony or birch coloured suede, this added composition to the bedsides gives an added luxury feel to the product.’

Wool is a natural fibre that offers longevity and durability and is proven to enhance sleep for users, solving many issues including allergies and night sweats. Wool bedding insulates while regulating body temperature throughout the night.
Chris Tattersall, managing director of the Wool Room, comments: ‘The Wool Room’s Super Light Wool Duvets are the UK’s lightest wool duvet and, because we use the finest British wool, they’re scientifically proven to be 67% more effective than feather or down at removing humidity from your sleeping environment for the best possible night’s sleep.’

Why not evoke a traditional sense of elegance and grandeur with a classical bed design? Envisage grand oak, curves and tails, accessorise with drapes and antique bedside pieces.
Stuart Roach, retail sales advisor at It’s Bed Time, comments: ‘The bed is the focal point of any bedroom, providing both a serene and stylish place to rest your head and body at the end of each day. The Parisian styled Claire bedframe is made from a combination of solids and venires in lime oak providing a rock solid platform, a classic upholstered and buttoned headboard finished in a natural coloured fabric suitable for any bedroom and a choice of a high or low foot end giving you a bedframe that will remain timeless. The Lime Oak Claire range offers all this plus a slightly modern twist with the wood finish being particularly unique.’

Carpet adds the covering to your home, providing warmth in winter and coolness in summer, while adding texture and accentuating detail to a bedroom décor. Choosing a carpet takes careful consideration – a chic modern look in the bedroom gives a great excuse to have fun with carpet designs with splashes of colour or, for a more toned down scheme, neutral shades are better suited.
Tim Ponder, director of Carpet Comfort, comments: ‘I always recommend finding a carpet that is soft underfoot, even over time. Our Gentle Bliss range ticks all the boxes for a family friendly flooring. Not only is it a taste of luxury crafted by Smart-Strand Silk, which is the toughest fibre but easiest to clean, it is also soft to touch but durable and resistant to stains.’
