If you are feeling the heat of the Christmas rush, a recent survey has shown that if you are yet to put your Christmas tree up you are officially behind schedule. Meadows shopping centre in Chelmsford recently conducted a survey about Christmas trees and discovered that 50% of people put their Christmas tree up in the first week of December, officially starting the festive season.
Out of the people surveyed, 54% place a star pride of place on the top of their tree, compared to 29% opting for the traditional Christmas angel. The survey also asked shoppers if they were offered a tree collection service, would they use it, and 63% said yes, so now Meadows shopping centre is launching a Christmas Treecycling service.
Working in partnership with local company, Walker Tree Care, the shopping centre will offer a free Christmas tree collection service between January 7 and 12. The donated trees will be chipped and shredded this winter and delivered to Tropical Wings Zoo to use as bedding to keep the animals warm this winter. To register a tree collection, visit www.themeadows.co.uk/treecycling.
When you arrange the collection of your tree, not only will you be helping Tropical Wings Zoo in the process, but you will also be entered into a prize draw to win one of seven family tickets to the zoo as a thank you. Plus your sad, lonely Christmas tree won’t be abandoned in your garden, so at least that is one less thing to worry about.
