Essex Life magazine has teamed up with Jimmy’s Farm to offer readers the chance to win one of ten fabulous festive food boxes full of Jimmy’s Farm goodies
Each collection of Christmas treats is worth in excess of £100 and will be a helpful boost to the seasonal celebrations. The food boxes will contain a 2kg leg of pork, a 2kg gammon joint, 1kg of pork chops, two packs of Classic Essex Chipolatas (350g per pack), one pack of sausagemeat (500g), one pack of saddleback bacon (250g), two packs of streaky bacon (250g per pack) and two rump steaks.
Busy families that want to sort Christmas in a single weekend can see more of what Jimmy’s Farm has to offer at the giant Christmas Fayre at Jimmy’s Farm on December 6 and 7.
Food lovers will be inspired to create extra special festive flavours during cookery demos from celebrity chefs including Masterchef 2014 champion Ping Coombes, the talented pastry chef Will Torrent, turkey expert Paul Kelly and leading light of East Anglian food, Emma Crowhurst. The farm’s shop will be fully stocked with festive food and drink, and visitors to the farm can see the award-winning turkeys being reared in the great outdoors and order their turkey and everything they need either at the counter or online with nationwide delivery.
Gift hunters will be able to browse a huge variety of stalls before selecting a range of presents for their friends and family or enjoy a drink at the Aspalls Cyder bar while listening to live music and nibbling on the delicious hot food on offer. Children looking forward to the excitement on Christmas Day can help select the Christmas tree on the way to Santa’s grotto and Jimmy’s Farm Nature Trail will be open with all its friendly rare breed animals, Hobbit House, playgrounds and zip wire.
Jimmy’s Farm aims to introduce families to the fun of the outdoors and farming life. Jimmy Doherty took on the 100-acre site with his wife Michaela in 2003. Their entertaining endeavours to turn the land into a rare breed pig farm were broadcast as Jimmy’s Farm on BBC2. n

It’s easy to find the farm which is just off the A12, south of Ipswich. Access to all the activities related to Christmas Fayre, the farm shop and parking are free of charge. Tickets for the Nature Trail, which includes the rare breed animals, the playgrounds and the Hobbit House, are £2.50 for children, £3.50 for adults and £11.50 for family tickets. The Christmas Fayre runs from 10am to 4pm each day.
