Archant

Jack Lacy was born in Buckhurst Hill. Down But Not Out is his debut book

Down But Not Out isn’t an easy read. Jack Lacy, a pseudonym employed to try and ensure the author’s safety, writes about his life in a full and frank manner, and pulls no punches. We hear about his descent into a life of crime and the subsequent years he spends trying to survive a world that frequently endangers his life. The story is a little unfocused in parts and some of the stories have a tendency to ramble, but it’s a fascinating insight into a unique life.
