Timed to coincide with the glamour and excitement of Royal Ascot, Chelmsford City Racecourse hosts it’s own top class card of racing, with the highest calibre of horses and jockeys all racing live at the Essex track
With almost £60,000 of prize money up for grabs, the racing is always competitive and certain to get the heart pounding.
Ladies Day is the flagship event of the calendar and is now a highly regarded feature of the Essex social calendar.
The months of effort which go into the planning of outfits, co-ordinating travel arrangements, organising friends and studying the form of the horses all comes to fruition with a packed day of live racing action, best dressed competitions, fine dining and plenty of bubbles!
This feature event sells out each year, with the hospitality options selling like hotcakes as soon as the phone lines are open for sales.
A variety of different ticket options offer a choice of admission to suit any age, gender or budget and a top class live musical act rounds the day off in style, seeing many guests kicking off their shoes and dancing well into the evening (many Gold Enclosure guests donning the complimentary silver slippers provided by the course).
Regular Ladies Day partner, Essex Life, hosted the first of the annual fashion shows in 2019, showcasing a selection of wardrobe essentials from local and national boutique clothing stores.
Beautifully dressed by local interior design company, House of Design, the catwalk was a focal point of the impressive tri-span marquee and, joined by luxury beauticians The Beauty Clinic as well as the popular Essex Life green screen team, created an extravagant location from where to watch the beautiful traditional carousel and the hotly contested Best Dressed Lady competition.
With over 150 entries, the standard of outfit in the 2019 running of the Best Dressed competition was exceptional. The heats took place on the catwalk, with a panel of judges narrowing the contest down to 10 finalists who all took to the stage to showcase their glamour and beauty later in the afternoon.
The prize fund which greeted the eventual winner included a host of impressive prizes such as VIP concert tickets, beauty treatments worth in excess of £200, a bespoke made hat, a hamper of goodies from Wilkin & Sons and much more.
The 2020 Ladies Day plans include developing additional areas of the course to extend the touch of VIP class to even the standard admission tickets. Tickets go on sale on the 2nd December, so don't miss out on a fantastic event!
