Animal Defenders International Films will be hosting an award-winning action-documentary, Lion Ark, at Colchester Arts Centre. On December 9, for one evening only, the exclusive special screening will provide a rare opportunity to see an action adventure compared to a traditional documentary. Holly Eells tells us more.
Following its shocking exposé, Bolivia banned animal circuses, but the circuses defied the law. They were tracked down and the animals were saved, and the film’s joyous finale sees 25 lions airlifted to freedom. The film takes you into the heart of the massive animal rescue operation and makes the animals the real stars, as their lives are transformed. This uplifting film will be followed by a Q&A with Jan Creamer and the film’s director and ADI vice president, Tim Phillips. Tim and Jan will be just back from their rescue mission in Peru, Operation Spirit of Freedom, where they are enforcing the ban ADI secured and rescuing the animals, which has already seen 22 lions and four monkeys from circuses rescued and now in care. Every penny from the screening will go towards the rescue. Lion Ark also took the film festival circuit by storm with standing ovations and sell-out screenings, picking up six awards, and has recently secured global distribution with ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
