The Food Company Nominated for Deli of the Year 2011

The Food Company in Marks Tey, the delicatessen with an unrivalled range of the finest food from all over the world, has been nominated for Deli of the Year 2011. This prestigious award is judged by some of the UKs leading food experts and, in each region of the UK, a deli will be chosen to go forward to the Deli of the Year final. The champion deli will be announced at the Oscars of the fine food world in London this September.

Kevin Hadlow, Head of Retail at The Food Company, said: We dont see ourselves as a retailer, but as a purveyor of the finest food in the county and we are delighted to be nominated for Deli of the Year. Because we are passionate about the food we source, produce and sell, we want everyone to enjoy the food they eat. The shopping environments important too; its the experience of browsing, tasting and talking to our knowledgeable staff that our customers love. Obviously wed love to win Deli of the Year, but we need votes.

To vote for The Food Company all you have to do is visit www.thefoodcompany.co.uk, call in or call us on 01206 214000. If The Food Company wins, you could win a holiday to Spain too. Last date to vote is 31 May 2011.

Giles Henschel of Olives Et Al, the organisers of the award, believes that the deli culture is worth protecting and celebrating: Last year thousands of people supported delis in their own high streets. The comments we received were amazing and we were truly staggered by the level of support for delis we hope that we will have even more this year and that we find a deli worthy of the title Deli of the Year 2011.

The winning deli will win a trip to Spain for two to experience an authentic Spanish olive harvest. The winners will be treated to a three-day trip to the Extremadura region of western Spain to enjoy lots of regional specialities. One person who votes for their favourite deli also stands a chance of winning a trip to Spain too, so one of The Food Companys customers might be the lucky one.
