Here are some simple ideas for the perfect date in Essex

Check out our guide for the perfect date ideas in Essex. Spend some time with your loved one

The beach

What could be more romantic than a stroll along the blustery beach, huddled close with your loved one? How about Frinton on Sea or Shoebury East Beach for a bit of peace and quiet?

Old houses

The English Heritage estate of Audley End is a wonderful place to escape to with your significant other. You will feel like you are in a fairy tale and you might even see some snowdrops.

Out to dinner

Whether you want a five star splurge, or just a cosy pub to warm up in, a date is an excuse to share a meal with someone you love, or somebody new. Try the Sandbank Restaurant in Leigh-on-Sea for some fine dining or the Hoop in Stock for some comfort food in a traditional pub.

An evening at the theatre

Laughing or crying along with a play or musical on the stage is a unique thrill and who better to enjoy it with than your love? Grab some popcorn or a glass of wine and settle into your seats for a night of entertainment. Check out the eclectic calendar of events at Colchester’s Mercury Theatre.

Art gallery

Going to a museum or art gallery is a treat in our busy lives so make the most of it. Being together but apart is a romantic way to spend an afternoon: peruse the old paintings in The Munnings Art Museum in Dedham and discuss over coffee afterwards.

Cosy café

Check out our guide on the best cafés in Essex, or stumble upon somewhere new when exploring a town with your date. Order something sweet to share with your coffees for a date night treat.

Amusement parks

Releasing your inner child and having fun at an amusement park with your partner is a cute way to spend the day. Why not visit Clacton Pier and eat candyfloss while playing arcade games or Adventure Island in Southend and try some exhilarating roller coasters?

Staying at home

Watching old films on the sofa with take out and a glass of wine: perfection!

A night away

For the ultimate in romantic gestures, booking a surprise weekend away has got to be number one. See our guides for cosy breaks or winter getaways, or check out Airbnb.
