Understanding the type of care you need is an important first step in finding a care home that is right for you or your loved one. Holly Eells visits The Beeches care home in Brentwood to find out more

There are many different types of care homes in Essex, ranging from homes which provide specialist nursing or dementia care to those which simply offer a safe and comfortable new home for people who may need a little assistance with their daily life.

At The Beeches care home in Brentwood the aim is all about making you feel at home. Although The Beeches has outstanding facilities, the home is all about the care it provides. Residents range from those who are relatively independent and still drive, to those who require respite, full nursing, dementia or end of life care. The team pride themselves on providing discreet support in a place which is not institutional, but as much like home as they can make it.

Jessica Kemp, one of the client liaison managers at The Beeches, believes they provide exceptional care, delivered by compassionate people, in the highest quality homes. Jessica explains: ‘Making our care and nursing home a resident’s new home, we offer independent and assisted living. It is a wonderful environment allowing an active, fun and safe way of life for those in their senior years.’

Whether you come to The Beeches looking for a little help when it’s needed or nursing care, over time residents care needs may change. At The Beeches these needs can be catered for.

Jessica explains: ‘Our Person Centred Care approach is supported by an affordable and flexible fee structure. At The Beeches we understand that every individual is unique and there is no “one-size-fits-all” care plan.

‘Everyone who comes to live in a Signature home at The Beeches has a detailed health and wellbeing assessment plus a care evaluation prior to moving in, during which time their particular needs and preferences are discussed. Together with family members and their own GP, we create a bespoke care plan – tailor-made to suit all personal and specific care requirements and support levels.’

The care team regularly review these care and support needs and, when agreed with the resident and their families, make any necessary changes. This practice of continual evaluation allows them to offer residents the most appropriate amount of care as and when they need it.

Jessica adds: ‘We offer the full spectrum of 24-hour residential and nursing care for individuals and couples. Whatever you need, whether it’s short term respite or convalescence, a comfortable home and some assistance with everyday tasks or specialised dementia or end-of-life care, we have the expertise and the people to provide it. You and your family can have complete peace of mind, knowing you’ll never have to look elsewhere.

‘Nobody ever wants to go into care, but sometimes families need to look at this option and here at The Beeches we are passionate about being the best there is. Our residents are proud to call The Beeches their home and staff are proud to be part of an exceptional team working in a wonderful environment.’

The Beeches has recently been awarded ‘good’ in its Care Quality Commission (CQC) in all areas from its most recent inspection in July this year. w
