The new year is the turning of a new page, and a great opportunity for change. It gives people the chance to revisit the way they look at life, or begin new projects. And the owners of Hintlesham Hall, the hotel and spa nestled in the heart of Suffolk, are doing exactly that.

The core of Hintlesham Hall will remain unchanged. The spa provides a whole range of excellent beauty treatments. The Grade I listed building will still be an exceptional wedding venue and place to relax, dine and socialise. But the way in which people interact with Hintlesham Hall will change in 2017.

After a radical website redesign, people will soon be able to book directly and pay online, making it easier than ever to book a room or spa treatment. In fact, the whole look and feel of Hintlesham Hall as a business will undergo a makeover, a new lick of paint for the new year.

Part of this makeover involves approaching the Hall’s environmental impact and considering how it exists with the land around it. With an annual footfall of around 50,000 people, reducing its carbon footprint is high on the list of priorities. The famous Hintlesham Hall herb gardens, supported by Thompson and Morgan, will be re-established and grow salads, vegetables, soft fruits and flowers which will be prepared and used in the kitchens in the spring and summer months.

The Hall uses biomass boilers to provide central heating and hot water throughout the hotel. All the gardens will extract their water from the ground rather than sprinklers connected to the mains.

Free electric car charging points in the car park will encourage more emissions-free vehicles to take to the roads, and all of the waste paper and organic products will be collected to then be recycled.

Other initiatives involve donating leftover soaps and shampoos to the White Chapel mission which cares for the homeless, allowing Hintlesham primary school a dedicated garden and helping children plant and grow, and giving horticulture work placements to students at the local college.

Working with the local community is very much part of the Hintlesham Hall ethos, and teaming up with local schools and good causes reflects this.

Hintlesham Hall may have a reputation as an excellent wedding venue, but it is not exclusively for wedding parties. 2017 will see the construction of a new dedicated conference room and five new rooms, along with a wifi upgrade to cater for the businesses that enjoy hosting corporate events at the Hall.

Alongside excellent upgraded facilities for business meetings, clay pigeon shooting, zorbing, orienteering and other outdoors activities will all be available on the grounds, ideal for business away day packages or personal events.

Above all, weddings are just one among many things that Hintlesham Hall is focusing on. From relaxed dining with afternoon tea, Sunday lunches, and outdoors summer breakfasts to family-oriented BBQs and hog roasts, the Hall is a food lover’s delight.

Parties keep the place alive long into the night, making Hintlesham Hall a destination of luxury, relaxation and letting your hair down - for people of all ages.

2017 will start with a bang, and visitors to Hintlesham Hall have a lot to look forward to.
