Bonfire events in Essex: 15 of the best for fantastic fireworks

Wherever you are across Essex you’re never too far away from a stunning firework display or an enormous bonfire to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night. We’ve rounded up 15 of our favourites for you to try this November

1. Fireworks party at North Weald Airfield – November 3

Starts: 5.00pm

Tickets: £5 per adult and £3 per child if purchased in advance

Highlights: Little Mix tribute band and hot air balloons glowing to music


2. King Coel’s Kittens Fireworks Spectacular in Castle Park, Colchester – November 4

Starts: 6pm

Tickets: Adults £9, 4-15 years £4.50 and under-4s free

Highlights: Hosted by Michael J Fitch and parade of the Guy at 7pm


3. The Great Burnham Bonfire at St Mary the Virgin – November 4

Starts: 6pm

Tickets: Free! Bring a large firework with you or scrap wood for the bonfire

Highlights: A display where everyone chips in to do their bit!


4. Clacton-on-Sea Fireworks – November 4

Starts: Usually between 8 and 9.30pm but weather dependent

Tickets: Free!

Highlights: Takes place on the pier so its bowling arcade and boardwalk bar will be available


5. Billericay Charity Bonfire & Fireworks Spectacular at Lake Meadows Park – November 4

Starts: 5:30pm

Tickets: £6 adults, £4 children

Highlights: Displays from previous winners of the British Musical Fireworks Championships and a low noise display at 7pm


6. Big Beach Bang at East Beach Shoeburyness – November 4

Starts: 6pm

Tickets: £5 in advance or £6 on the gate

Highlights: 100% of money raised goes to charity and it takes place right on the beach!


7. Dunmow’s Fantastic Fireworks Display – November 4

Starts: 6:15pm

Tickets: £6 for adults and £4 for kids if bought in advance

Highlights: a movie-inspired soundtrack to go with the fireworks and an improved BBQ


8. Waldegraves Holiday Park Fireworks Display – November 4

Starts: 5pm

Tickets: £5 for parking

Highlights: Back to the 80s Party Band and Island Inflatables


9. Harwich Guy Carnival – October 28

Starts: 6pm

Tickets: Free

Highlights: Big Head parade and torch bearers


10. Stratford St Mary Community Display – November 4

Starts: 6pm

Tickets: £5 adults, £1 for under-14s, under-3s free

Highlights: Hog roast and everything goes towards supporting the local community


11. Guy Fawkes Fireworks at Royal Gunpowder Mills – November 4 + 5

Starts: 2pm

Tickets: £10.50 adults, under-16s £8.50

Highlights: Science shows, short theatre production and fireworks from Force FX


12. Arena Essex Raceway Stock Cars & Gigantic Firework Display – November 5

Starts: 1pm

Tickets: £15 adults and £5 children

Highlights: A mix of stock car carnage alongside a gigantic firework display!


13. Chelmsford Fireworks at Admirals Park – November 4

Starts: 4pm

Tickets: £7 adults and £5 kids (VIP tickets extra)

Highlights: Hosted by BBC Essex and chance to watch on from a VIP tent


14. Low Noise Fireworks for SEN Families at Little Clacton – November 5

Starts: 4.30pm

Tickets: £6 adults, £5 under-16s

Highlights: Meet a princess at this event specially tailored to families who have children with special educational needs


15. Maldon Firework Display at Promenade Park – November 4

Starts: 5:30pm

Tickets: £6 adults, £4 for 6-14 years, under-5s free (£1 on top of each charge when bought on the gate

Highlights: A musical firework display from the winners of the National Firework Championship set next to the beautiful River Chelmer
