We reveal the finalists for the Pub of the Year award. Sponsored by G+G Gallo Enterprises Ltd
Whether it’s the food, the drink or the good company, the judges sought to find Essex Life readers’ favourite pub in the county.
The Hoop, Stock
Phil Utz and I have been at The Hoop for 12 years. We both met 17 years ago in London as chefs and the hospitality industry is our life. We love The Hoop and that’s why we want the best for our business, staff and, of course, our customers. The Hoop is a very traditional village pub – no music, no TVs, no fruit machine and no reservations. We are best known for our food and real ale including our annual beer festival.
The Fox and Hounds, Ramsden Heath
Our family have lived in the village for the past 25 years. We have relished the opportunity to revive and bring back our local, The Fox, to make it the traditional country pub it once was. Enjoy an open fire, top quality food, live music and our famous Foxie Festivals. There are no strangers here, only friends we haven’t met yet.
The White Hart, Moreton
From Bell Ringers to Motown singers, and beautiful weddings to emotional funerals, at The White Hart there are not many things we haven’t hosted since taking the reins in April 2017. We are part of the community, sponsoring 15 football teams at Ongar Juniors and joining forces with DKMS, Epping Breast Cancer Unit, MS Society and many more to raise money for fantastic causes. Located in the village of Moreton, we provide a wide selection of beers, ales and good wines. Our food menu is British cuisine and we pride ourselves on our service.
