Upminster Farmers Market
Situated close to the station in the heart of town, Upminster Farmers Market is always busy and popular stalls almost always sell out early. Recently chosen as the setting for the pilot episode of a BBC One food show, the market offers fresh local lamb, pork, pies, bread and pastries from Le Moulin bakery. Shoppers can also take away olives and Mediterranean goodies, along with a wide range of delicious local cheeses.

Centric Parade, High Road
This market, with more than 20 stalls, will tempt shoppers with lovely fresh vegetables, pies, cheeses and olives. There is also a good selection of free-range meat, which even includes ostrich meat for those shoppers with a more adventurous taste. If it is your sweet tooth that is your main weakness, the brownie stall is a must.

Enjoy the tastes of Colchester with the quality range of food and wine available at this farmers market. These local producers are proud of their freshly-grown and baked produce and want to treat you to the organic experience with many items youll struggle to find in the supermarkets. You know youll get honest answers about the food you buy from here as everything is sold by the producer themselves. Usually with a minimum of 16 stalls, youll find a variety of meats along with seasonal vegetables, honey, jams and fruit.

Hatfield Heath Farmers' Market is a traditional farmers market where all stall holders sell handmade or homegrown produce. The market is particularly large, with more than 30 different stalls present each month, and an excellent variety of all local produce. Children are welcome and both entry and parking is free.
When: The fourth Saturday of every month from 9.30am to 12.30pm

Producers are keen to share their passion for good food and offer plenty of produce that is available to sample. Brentwood Farmers Market really does tick all the boxes. Here youll find a range of seasonal fruit and vegetables, the rare breed pork of Rhyne Park Farm and Garys Fresh Fish from Walton-on-the-Naze. This market also boasts the scrumptious meat pies and cakes of Baked Creations making this a must-visit market.

Romford Farmers Market

Held at Great Garnetts Farm, this market is a popular venue for shoppers seeking ethically-raised meat of the highest quality. As well as award-winning pork and locally-made breads, cakes and pies can be bought plus delicious fresh fruit vegetables and unique crafts.

Salvation Army Home Farm, Benfleet
This market can be found on the site of a 900-acre part-organic farm, and sells home-bred rare breed pork and beef (subject to availability please phone first) as well as a large range of other local produce from soups and sauces to chillies and chutneys.

Old Harlow Farmers Market
Old Harlow Farmers Market has an impressive display of stalls including the quality meats of Lennys Meats and Priors Hall Pork and the delicious cakes, bread and pies of Baked Creations. There is a fantastic free range egg stall and of course a fabulous selection of seasonal fruit and vegetables. The olives and spicy nuts of Med Foods are sure to tempt you and there are the essential ingredients of a nutritious and flavoursome meal at the many other stalls.

Leigh on Sea Farmers Market

Run by Leigh Town Council, Leigh Farmers' Market maintains its original principles in terms of the distance producers travel. At this market youll find quality meats including Layer Marney lamb and venison. Le Moulin Bakery from Hornchurch provide a wide range of delicious bread and pastries freshly made for the market and for a speciality, Thorpe Bay honey products will have you buzzing. Small and friendly yet full of variety, Leighs market can take credit for being the first of its kind in the county.
When: Held once a month on alternate dates, the next is on Friday, 19 Feb from 9am to noon

Epping Farmers Market
Fresh, tasty and locally sourced is the message at the heart of Essex Farmers Markets and Eppings market testifies perfectly to this with many companies catering for a variety of appetites. Among these is the distinctive company Global Fusion, which offers a 100% vegan range of pies, tarts, cakes and Creole sweetbreads as well as a range gluten free and sugar free products. Epping is always a busy market with a great atmosphere in which to discover fresh and tasty products.

Southend Farmers Market
For a bustling market experience, head to Southend Farmers Markets. With an impressive display of stalls selling the usual cheeses, meats and vegetables as well as unique homemade breads, cakes and pies, youll find the distinctively fresh smells too enticing to resist. The proud local producers are happy to answer any questions you may have about their produce and offer samples of their food to try before you buy. Wanstead Farmers Market
One of the great success stories of 2009, Wanstead Farmers Market is situated in the heart of Wanstead and has become a Mecca for food lovers. The producers here really represent the diverse tastes of the area and alongside traditional stalls selling fresh fish, meats, vegetables, pies and breads, you will find everything from gourmet curry sauces to fresh Creole and sushi creations. There are a few really unusual craft stalls here too.

Gants Hill Farmers Market
Historic Valentines Mansion is host to the Gants Hill Farmers Market. Set in stunning parkland you will find a plethora of mouth-watering delights to tempt every palate. Newport Village Farmers Market

Held in Newport Village Hall, the market is conveniently located in the heart of this historic Essex village. This is a traditional market offering fresh and organic produce as well as quality pork and beef and the tasty delights of homemade pt and meat pies. With around 20 stalls, shoppers are spoilt for choice and have the chance to enjoy the tea, coffee and scrumptious cakes on sale. Craft goods including cards and knitted products are also available as well as a range of natural handmade soaps.

Lawford Farmers' Market
Venture Centre 2000
Launched in September 2009, the Lawford Craft and Farmers Market takes place once a month, usually on the last Saturday. Entry and parking are free and there is disabed access. Produce includes fresh fruit and vegetables, homemade cakes and pastries, speciality breads, organic meats, jams and preserves, Suffolk and Norfolk cheeses, sweet and savoury pies, sausages, eggs, herbs and much more.The arts and crafts are mainlyproduced by local people and almost all ofthe products sold at the market are sourced within the local area. Between Marchand Junea Prize Draw supports the Ark Charity based in Harwich,which helps children and their families in the area. Refreshments and free tastings are available.
When: Saturdays 10amto 2pm on23rd April, 28th May, 25th June, 30th July (Summer Celebration), 27th August, 24th September, 29th October, 26th November (Christmas Market) and 17th December (Christmas Market).
