Judges looked for businesses who have started a food and/or drink venture in the last three years. The judges will be looking for an outstanding early stage business which has already become a success story or shows promise to become one.
Following years of making Christmas puddings for friends, in 2015, Alison Lilly decided to launch the LillyPuds brand. These award-winning puddings are carefully packaged for gifting or for dining and can be found through the trade or retail markets. What makes these puddings unique is that they are scrumptiously light with reduced added sugar, a high fruit content and no mixed peel or dairy ingredients.
Olive Branch, Wivenhoe
Following Christmas 2016, a little piece of Syria came to Wivenhoe. On 1a Station Road, the Olive Branch opened its doors with a grand opening! Featured on ITV news, BBC radio and the local press, the Olive Branch has been celebrated, not only for its delicious authentic Syrian vegan dishes, but also for the message of hope and peace it represents.
Bradfields Farm Dairy, North Benfleet
Bradfields Farm Dairy is one of only a handful of dairy farms left in Essex. Run by the Lambert family for three generations, it launched its micro dairy in February 2017 making fresh milk, cream, cheese and yogurts which are sold from the farm and at farmers’ markets, as well as through wholesale to local farm shops.
