Judges searched for the people and businesses that grow, brew or make exceptional food or drink in Essex. Any Essex producer, from farmer to wine-maker, was eligible — whatever their size
Cotchel — George Thompson Ltd, Great Oakley
Cotchel is a range of juices created by third generation farmer Pete Thompson, who is on a mission to reduce food waste by using the apples and pears he can’t sell and turning them into something delicious. The family have been growing fruit and vegetables on their farm in Great Oakley since 1948.
Martin’s Lane Vineyard, Stow Maries
Martin’s Lane Vineyard was established in 2008 by a group of families, friends and relatives on 30 acres of spectacular hillside landscape overlooking the River Crouch at Stow Maries. The project was founded on the strong belief the Crouch Valley offered the perfect temperate climate and vital spring frost protection to produce the finest cool climate wines from the world’s classic grape varieties. Martin’s Lane wines are selected by premium restaurants in Essex, East Anglia and the West End of London.
Bradfields Farm Dairy, North Benfleet
